The Junior Volunteer Program gives teens a meaningful way to support patients, families, and staff — while building compassion and gaining a behind-the-scenes look at health care careers. Program requirements and eligibility are listed below.

Service Hour Requirement
Volunteers are expected to commit to a minimum of 36
hours for the Summer Program
Medical Clearance
Provide immunization records for or undergo immunization
screenings for:
- Measles, mumps, rubella (MMR)
- Chickenpox (Varicella)
- Hepatitis B
- Flu shot if volunteering during flu season (December 1 – April 30)
- Copy of COVID-19 immunization (if applicable)
Orientation/Training
Orientation and on-site training must be attended to complete on
boarding process.
Orientation and Uniform
During the required orientation and training session, you will learn important information
about the hospital and your responsibilities as a Junior Volunteer.
Important: If you would like parking privileges, please bring proof of vehicle registration
and insurance.
Every volunteer wears a uniform that includes:
- T-Shirt will be provided with Lakeland Community Hospital logo
- Tan or khaki-colored pants
- Closed-toed shoes worn with ankle-length or longer socks (no-show socks
are not permitted) - Photo identification worn at chest level at all times (provided free of charge)
Summer Program
The Junior Summer Program is a 6-week program designed for students ages 15 or older. The program runs from June to August every year.
2026 Summer Junior Program applications will be available on March 16, 2026. The deadline April 20, 2026.

Sample Summer Program Curriculum
Week 1: June 15th - Orientation, tour of facility, CPR class
Week 2: June 22nd -
Week 3: June 29th -
Week 4: July 13th
Week 5: July 20th
Week 6: July 27th Final week and graduation!
Rotations include:
- Front Desk: Morgan
- Imaging Services: Megan, front desk, transport, MRI support,
- Clinic front desk assistance: Dr. Johnston, Sanar Medical Clinic
- Administrative Assistant: Lee/Amber/Cherie
- Marketing and Foundation: Tabitha
- Billing and Scheduling: Taylor/Charity
- Food Services: Assist with preparation and serving OR Purchasing department
- Case Management/IC/Swing Bed: Teresa Bishop/Renee OR Plant operations
6-7 hours per week is ideal for scheduling hours
